Isringhausen To Throw For Reds
Jason Isringhausen will attempt another comeback with the Reds.
He is scheduled to throw on Monday at the Reds complex in Arizona with the hopes of securing a Minor League deal and Spring Training invite.
"He's contacted me and said he was healthy again and wanted to throw for us," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said.
"He'll throw for [pitching coach] Bryan Price on Monday in Goodyear and we'll see how he throws and how healthy he is."
Isringhausen, 38, signed a Minor League deal with the Reds on July 22, 2010, and posted a 9.53 ERA in seven appearances with Triple-A Louisville before he was shut down on Aug. 16 with a strained right elbow.
Orioles Offer Contract To Duchscherer
The Orioles have offered a contract to free-agent pitcher Justin Duchscherer, according to reports.
"[I'm] very close with several teams," Duchscherer said on Sunday afternoon.
Per team policy, the Baltimore have not commented on the report or on any ongoing player negotiations.
Weeks Will Discuss Deal Until Spring Training
Rickie Weeks is open to discussing a new contract with the Brewers, but he won't do so after spring training.
Milwaukee general manager Gord Ash says the team hasn't been formally told of the second baseman's request, but he believes it's a good thing to wrap up talks that started in December.
Weeks hit .269 with 29 home runs and 83 RBIs last season.
Orioles May Have Competition For Guerrero
There have been reports that the Orioles extended an offer to Vladimir Guerrero, but they may have competition for the free-agent slugger.
A source close to Baltimore says the team isn't confident they'll land Guerrero, which leads many to believe they either extended a low-ball offer or there is serious competition.
The Angels and Blue Jays have also been reported to have some interest in signing Guerrero, but it isn't known if he's officially received any offers.
Orioles Make Offer To Guerrero
Just as it appeared the options were dwindling for Vladimir Guerrero, he has received a contract offer from the Orioles.
FOX Sports first reported the offer and the exact terms aren't yet known.
Guerrero was at first looking for a two-year, $16 million deal, but he dropped his demands to a one-year, $8 million contract.
Baltimore's price range for Guerrero is likely in the neighborhood of $3 million to $5 million, according to the report.
Options Dwindling For Guerrero
The Orioles aren't close to a deal with Vladimir Guerrero and the options appear to be dwindling for the free-agent slugger.
"We've had some conversations, but there is nothing on the horizon," said Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail.
The Orioles expressed interest in Guerrero, who hit .300 with 29 homers and 115 RBIs for the Texas Rangers in 2010, earlier this offseason.
Angels, Weaver Begin Talks On Extension
The Angels have opened discussions with Jered Weaver about a long-term contract extension, according to owner Arte Moreno.
Weaver, 28, would be a free agent following the 2012 season. He is represented by agent Scott Boras.
The two sides were more than $1 million apart when they swapped arbitration figures about a one-year deal earlier this month.
Weaver led the majors with 233 strikeouts last season and is 64-39 with a 3.55 ERA in five major league seasons.
Toronto Hasn't Offered Bautista New Contract
The Blue Jays have yet to offer Jose Bautista a multiyear contract extension this offseason, according to the slugger's agent.
"Jose is interested in exploring it, but they have not made any multiyear proposals," agent Bean Stringfellow said.
Bautista's salary for this year may not be determined until a February salary arbitration hearing.
Interest In Beimel Picking Up
Joe Beimel says there are several teams interested in his services, but the Rockies aren't one of them.
